The Roundup
The Santa Rosa Community Farmers' Market goes back to the Vets Building. I have fond memories of markets at the Vets as a kid, so I’m a fan of it coming back. Starting October 7th the market leaves its Farmers Lane spot and sets up in the county-owned lot at the Veterans Memorial Building, Wednesdays and Saturdays from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. The move was prompted by Oliver's Market opening a new store in the Bennett Valley plaza. SMART wants the Healdsburg station downtown, and it wants to hear from you. I’d love to take the train for lunch on the square. Agency staff now recommend a Vine Street site over the long-planned Hudson Street depot, and it was on the Healdsburg City Council's agenda Monday, with an online survey opening this week. More than 80 percent of local workers commute in from outside the city, and the board weighs parking, pedestrian safety and public comment before deciding in December; construction on the extension starts next spring and runs through 2028. Amy's Kitchen is closing its Santa Rosa plant. I'm sad to see the plant closing. The organic food company will shut the Santa Rosa manufacturing facility in phases and move production to its bigger plants in Oregon and Idaho, cutting about 200 local jobs. Layoffs begin late this year and finish by next summer, with severance and placement help through local workforce programs; the corporate headquarters stays in Petaluma, where Amy's started nearly 40 years ago. Business Happenings
Now open: Neon Kitty — I’m going to have to take my daughter here for the sesame balls. Neon Kitty is a grab-and-go Asian market and snack counter in Graton Resort's fast-casual row, with warm bao and dumplings alongside shelves of pantry goods and sweets. (Graton Resort & Casino)
Now open: Relic & Revival Collective — curated local treasures! Now open, this vendor marketplace of antiques, vintage, apparel, home goods and artisan pieces in the hangar-like Old Roma Station storefront at 51 Front St. in Healdsburg, the former Hudson Street Vintage space. (Patch)
Farewell: Oso Sonoma — all good things must come to an end. The small-plates restaurant on the Sonoma Plaza is closing after 12 years. (KSRO)
